There are many reasons for battery failure, and most of them are caused by improper maintenance, in addition to manufacturing quality and transportation and storage. The characteristics of the common faults of the battery, the causes and the repair methods are as follows:
First, the irreversible sulfation of the plates
1. Features:
(1) The battery capacity is reduced;
(2) The electrolyte density is lower than the normal value;
(3) The battery terminal voltage is too high when charging and charging are completed;
(4) Bubbles occur when bubbles occur prematurely during charging or when charging starts;
(5) The temperature of the electrolyte rises faster during charging.
2. Causes:
(1) insufficient initial charge;
(2) The discharge time or the half discharge state is too long;
(3) Insufficient long-term charging;
(4) Frequent over-discharge;
(5) The electrolyte density exceeds the specified value;
(6) The electrolyte liquid level is too low, causing the liquid surface to be exposed on the upper plate;
(7) Failure to perform balanced charging in time;
(8) The discharge current is too large or too small;
(9) The electrolyte is not pure;
(10) Internal short circuit, local action or leakage.
3. Remedial and preventive measures:
(1) The lighter is treated by means of balanced charging; or repaired with a battery repairing device.
(2) The heavy one adopts "water therapy";
(3) cannot be over-discharged;
(4) The electrolyte density cannot exceed the specified value;
(5) The electrolyte level and impurity content should be within the specified range.
Second, the battery internal short circuit
1. Features:
(1) When charging, the battery terminal voltage is very low, even close to zero;
(2) Less bubbles or no bubbles at the end of charging;
(3) The temperature of the electrolyte rises rapidly during charging, and the density rises slowly or even does not rise;
(4) The battery open circuit voltage is low, and the discharge voltage drops to the termination voltage too early;
(5) Severe self-discharge.
2. Causes:
(1) The plate is bent, the active material expands or falls off, causing damage to the separator and causing a short circuit;
(2) too much precipitate, causing a short circuit;
(3) The battery falls into the conductive material, causing a short circuit.
3. Remedial and preventive measures:
Replace the partitions, remove sediment and conductive materials, and severely scrap. In this case, the battery repair device is used, and the effect is not good.
Third, the plate active material premature / excessive shedding
1. Features:
(1) The battery capacity is reduced;
(2) the electrolyte is turbid;
(3) Excessive precipitate.
2. Causes:
(1) The electrolyte does not meet the quality standards;
(2) charging and discharging too frequently or overcharge and over discharge;
(3) The electrolyte temperature is too high during charging;
(4) When discharging, a short circuit occurs in the external circuit.
3. Remedial and preventive measures:
The lighter removes the sediment and the heavy ones are scrapped. In this case, the battery repair device does not work well.
