Two Certification Types: Key Differences

SIRIM offers two mandatory certification pathways for battery products. Choose based on your export strategy:

Type 1B (Batch Certification)

• Best for: Occasional exporters or single-batch trial orders
• Advantages: No factory audit required, simpler process
• Drawbacks: Each shipment requires sending samples to Malaysia for testing and special labeling
• Ideal for: Low-frequency exporters with infrequent shipments

Type 5 (Product Certification)

• Best for: Long-term, multi-batch exporters
• Advantages: One-time factory audit (first year), then no need for repeated sampling for subsequent batches within the certificate's 1-year validity period
• Ideal for: Companies planning sustained market presence in Malaysia
• Long-term benefit: More economical and efficient despite higher initial investment

Product Scope & Applicable Standards

Lithium Batteries

Certification Process

Step 1: Technical Documentation Preparation

Foundation of certification, including:

• Product specifications
