1. Cell Dimension Tolerances

Lithium-ion batteries are classified into different units based on their dimensions. To ensure the standardization and consistency of unit classification, the dimensional deviation of battery cells must meet the following requirements:

2. How to Interpret "Cathode Material", "Anode Material", "Separator", and "Electrolyte"?

The aforementioned key components have a direct impact on product safety performance. Within the same certification unit, the cathode material, anode material, separator, and electrolyte must be identical. The following requirements must be met:

 

  • Consistency in Documentation: The cathode/anode materials checked on the report description page must match the material compositions listed on the bill of materials.
  • Mixing Ratio Specification: If the materials are mixed formulations, their mixing ratios must be clearly indicated.
  • Change Application for Modifications: If there is a change in the mixing ratio, or if it is necessary to replace the manufacturer/model of the materials, a change application must be submitted to the certification body for record, and a full set of tests must be conducted.
  • Material Code Annotation: If the cathode/anode materials, separator, or electrolyte are identified by material codes, they should be noted as "Material Code" to ensure inspectors can verify consistency during factory audits.

3. Requirements and Precautions for Test Parameters

CCC certification imposes strict requirements on battery test parameters. The parameters of battery packs must comply with the parameters of individual cells and must not exceed the parameter range of the cells. Key requirements include:

 

  • The end-of-discharge voltage of individual cells must be less than or equal to the minimum undervoltage discharge protection voltage of the battery pack.

4. Question About the Shape and Dimensions of Pouch Cells

For pouch cells applying for CCC certification, if the declared maximum thickness is 4mm (4mm Max), is this acceptable?

 

  • There is no specified lower limit for battery thickness in current regulations, only an upper limit. However, in accordance with the requirements of the CCC certification decision, the lower limit of battery thickness must also be specified to meet the standard.

5. Can the Customer’s Model "XX18650" Use "XX" as the Factory Code?

No, this is not allowed. The "factory code" is an identification element distinct from the "model" and must be marked separately. By the same logic, the rated capacity, nominal voltage, and production date must also be marked separately on the nameplate.

6. For the Same Battery Model, If a CCC Certification Report Shows One Label Printing Format, but a Customer Requires Another (with Identical Product Parameters, Only Different Label Printing Formats), Can the Label Printing Format Be Changed?

Yes. The nameplate design can be submitted for record, and multiple nameplate designs (including different label printing formats) can be reflected in a single certification report—provided that all mandatory identification information is included and complies with CCC labeling specifications.
