Major online platforms such as Amazon, TEMU, AliExpress, TikTok Shop, and Alibaba International Station have already started compliance reviews.
If you fail to complete the registration and obtain the battery regulation registration number before the effective date, the batteries and battery-containing products currently sold in your store will be required by the platform to be suspended from sale until you upload the battery registration number.
Amazon
Amazon has long been reminding sellers: By August 18, sellers selling batteries or battery products in 9 countries including Germany, Sweden, Poland, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, France, Italy, and Spain must complete the registration of the battery regulation in the corresponding country and upload the registration number to the platform.
Consequences of non-compliance on time:
TEMU
TEMU will verify sellers' EPR compliance status by August 18, 2025. If you sell battery products in the following EU countries as required by TEMU, you must submit registration information in a timely manner to avoid affecting the normal operation of your store.
Measures for failure to comply in time:
AliExpress
AliExpress requires that all merchants selling batteries or battery-containing products in the EU must complete compliance by August 18, 2025; otherwise, the products will face risks such as blocking and removal in the corresponding countries, especially involving core member states including France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Poland, Belgium, Ireland, and the Netherlands.
TikTok Shop
If you sell batteries or battery-containing products in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Ireland, etc., you need to comply with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements, register in each EU country/region where you are regarded as a producer, and upload the registration number in the TikTok Shop seller center by August 18, 2025.
Alibaba International Station
Alibaba International Station reminds that starting from August 18, 2025, batteries and battery-containing products sold to the EU through the international station that do not meet the EU battery EPR compliance requirements will be subject to compliance control by the international station, including but not limited to transaction interruption and country blocking.
Among them, Germany, Sweden, Poland, the Netherlands, and Ireland are mandatory registration countries. Failure to complete registration on time will result in direct suspension of products.
Product Labeling is Indispensable
In addition to CE certification, the battery itself or its packaging must be printed with recycling labels such as classification recycling and chemical composition. These labels are important signs of product compliance; missing or irregularly affixed labels will result in the product being deemed unqualified and unable to be listed on the market.
Germany AR Binding Becomes a Hard Requirement
The new regulations of the German EAR (recycling agency) clearly stipulate that all battery registration numbers must be bound through an Authorized Representative (AR). Unqualified registration numbers will become invalid on August 18, 2025, and products will be suspended from sale at that time.
Clarify Registration Needs
Sellers need to carefully conduct self-inspection or consult professional EPR service providers to determine whether their products need to register the battery regulation in the countries/regions where they are sold.
Upload Registration Number to the Platform
After confirming the need for registration, sellers must register the battery regulation in each EU country where they sell, obtain the registration number, and upload it to sales platforms such as Amazon and TEMU in a timely manner to ensure compliant sales of products.
Declare and Pay Fees on Time
Uploading the registration number is not the end. Sellers also need to complete the declaration requirements of each country on time and pay the corresponding environmental protection fees. It is crucial to abandon the lucky psychology of "only registering without declaring". European countries have strict requirements on EPR; failure to declare or under-declaration may result in store closure, fines, or even prosecution.
Major platforms have issued EU battery regulation compliance reminders, and compliance has become a "hard threshold" for cross-border sellers. Currently, some European countries are on summer holidays, and the registration cycle has become longer. Sellers who have not registered should hurry up!
