WERCSmart is a supply chain safety management system developed by The WERCS (now part of UL). It's not a traditional product certification but rather a product information registration and compliance review platform for large and medium-sized retailers.
Core functions:
- Manage large supplier networks and products uniformly
- Conduct safety assessments on target and existing products
- Help retailers screen compliant products efficiently
Operating model:Suppliers register product information on the platform, which then evaluates it to provide downstream retailers with hazard information, compliance status, and sustainability data.
Which Products Require WERCSmart Registration?
- Battery products: Various batteries (lithium, alkaline) and battery-containing products (toys, power banks, Bluetooth speakers)
- Chemical-related products: Cleaning supplies, cosmetics, personal care items, OTC drugs, supplements
- Electrical/electronic products: Items with circuit boards, light bulbs
- Others: Crafts, automotive products, pet care, home decor, stationery, toys, and food products in special containers
Note: Regular clothing and ordinary food generally don't require registration.
