SRRC Certification for Wireless Charging Power Banks: Mandatory Requirements, Standard Updates & Renewal Guide

Editor:ESTL Category:Certification information Release time:2025-10-16 Click volume:7

As devices with wireless transmission functions, wireless charging power banks must obtain SRRC Certification to be legally sold and circulated in mainland China, in accordance with relevant SRRC regulations. SRRC Certification is a key prerequisite to ensure their wireless transmission performance meets national technical standards and avoids interference with other radio equipment, making it crucial for enterprises to expand the Chinese market.

I. Core Overview of SRRC Certification

SRRC Certification (also known as Radio Type Approval Certification) is a mandatory certification system implemented by mainland China for radio transmitting equipment. It is managed by the State Radio Regulatory Commission of the People's Republic of China and currently enforced by the Radio Management Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). It ensures radio equipment complies with national technical standards, prevents mutual interference between devices, and maintains radio wave order.

(1) Core Certification Content

Certification Item Specific Details
Nature of Certification Mandatory Certification
Competent Authority State Radio Regulatory Commission (SRRC), currently enforced by the Radio Management Bureau of MIIT
Legal Basis Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of Radio
Certificate Name Type Approval Certificate for Radio Transmitting Equipment
Approval Code CMIIT ID: XXXXXX-XXXXX (must be clearly marked on the device)
Certificate Validity Period 5 years
Main Applicable Equipment All devices with wireless transmission functions, including mobile phones, wireless routers, Bluetooth devices (e.g., headphones, speakers), wireless microphones, smart watches, wireless remote controls, drones, walkie-talkies, vehicle-mounted radar, IoT devices, and wireless charging power banks
Common Exempted Equipment Devices with only receiving functions (e.g., radios), extremely low-frequency devices operating below 9kHz, and specific low-power devices complying with Technical Requirements for Micropower Short-Range Radio Equipment (e.g., some toy remote controls and wireless doorbells with very low transmission power)

(2) Penalties for Violations

According to the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of Radio, entities that produce, import, sell, or repair radio transmitting equipment (including wireless charging power banks) without obtaining the Type Approval Certificate will be ordered to make corrections and fined. In serious cases, illegal gains may be confiscated or business licenses revoked.

II. SRRC Certification Standard Update Requirements for Wireless Chargers

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China issued the document Notice on Matters Concerning Strengthening and Standardizing the Administration of the 2400MHz, 5100MHz, and 5800MHz Frequency Bands (Document No.: MIIT Radio [2021] No. 129), proposing new requirements for the radio management mechanism. Significant changes have been made to SRRC Certification standards for devices such as wireless charging power banks.

(1) Timing Requirements

  • Starting from October 15, 2023, new applications for devices (including wireless charging power banks) are required to adopt the new standards for testing.
  • By December 31, 2025, all old-version SRRC certificates must complete standard upgrades; otherwise, the certificates will become invalid. This means existing old-standard certificates need to be updated before the deadline to avoid affecting market access for products like wireless charging power banks.

(2) Content of Standard Upgrades

The document imposes stricter requirements on 2.4GHz/5.1GHz/5.8GHz devices (including wireless charging power banks). For example, 2.4GHz products must meet new sideband spurious limits (e.g., the limit for the 2483.5-2500MHz band is tightened to -40dBm/MHz). Additionally, new interference avoidance testing is introduced, requiring dedicated test samples and supporting equipment, with products needing to be equipped with interference avoidance mechanisms.

(3) Validity Differences Between Old and New Certificates

  • Old-standard certificates are valid until December 31, 2025 at the latest.
  • New-standard certificates are valid for 5 years from the date of issuance.

III. Application Documents for Upgrading Old SRRC Certificates to New Versions for Wireless Chargers

To upgrade old SRRC certificates to new versions for devices such as wireless charging power banks, applicants must submit the following documents:

  1. Application Form for Type Approval of Radio Transmitting Equipment: Clearly indicate the implementation standard as MIIT Radio [2021] No. 129.
  2. Power of attorney for the handler and scanned copy of the handler’s ID card (signed and sealed by the applicant, color-scanned).
  3. Letter of Request for Change from the applicant: Explain the reason for the upgrade and corresponding product information (e.g., wireless charging power bank details).
  4. Original Type Approval Certificate for Radio Transmitting Equipment: The original physical copy must be returned to MIIT.
  5. Entrusted Test Report: Issued by a testing institution recognized by MIIT (e.g., Guangdong Energy Storage Testing Technology Co., Ltd.).
  6. Sample Requirements: One prototype for fixed-frequency conducted testing + one prototype for adaptive (interference avoidance) testing.
