Battery-Related Report FAQs: Update Requirements, Label/Packaging Changes & Solutions

Editor:ESTL Category:Certification information Release time:2025-10-30 Click volume:4

Below are key answers to common questions about battery-related reports (UN38.3, identification reports, label/packaging changes, etc.) to help enterprises efficiently handle compliance updates and avoid shipment disruptions:

1. Does the UN38.3 Report Need to Be Updated?

  • The UN38.3 report has no fixed validity period. Generally, UN38.3 reports based on the 4th revised edition and subsequent versions of the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria for Dangerous Goods Transport are widely accepted.
  • For e-commerce or special version requirements of UN38.3 reports, please contact us to reapply. Our laboratory currently adopts the standard: ST/SG/AC.10/11/Rev.8.
  • We are one of the few domestic institutions with sodium-ion battery testing capabilities.

2. When Can the Updated 2026 Identification Report Be Issued?

  • The earliest collection date for the 2026 annual identification report is early December, significantly reducing the pressure for customers shipping in January!
  • For expedited needs, please contact our person in charge for direct coordination.

3. Regarding Battery Pack Label Changes

If the battery pack label is changed (e.g., adding certification logos, modifying trademarks/models, adjusting layout), customers must:

  1. Provide a consistency statement confirming the product itself remains unchanged—only the label content is modified.
  2. Send 2 pieces of old and new battery samples to apply for a comparison report and test summary.
  3. Submit an application for a new identification report.

4. Regarding Packaging Changes

For packaging changes (e.g., adjusted box size, modified product quantity, updated outer box design), it is necessary to reapply for:

  • 1.2-meter drop test report;
  • Stacking test report (if applicable);
  • New identification report.

5. What Other Reports Need to Be Updated?

In addition to air and sea transport identification reports, the following supporting reports must also be updated—do not miss them:

  • SDS/MSDS report;
  • Dangerous Goods Classification Identification Report.
